The casting is very detailed, showing tendon grooves, fetlock hair and horseshoe nails. The handles are hallmarked Birmingham 1899 & 1898 & stamped with the initials H. C. F. for Henry Charles Freeman. One has a long steel button hook, stamped "Steel". The other has a shoe horn, also stamped "Steel". Both of the steel parts were originally
