Heavy 18th Century Lancer's Stirrup - Stirrup033 antique whip 8cm (2⅝") wide internallyA single stirrup. This is hand wrought in steel. It is much heavier in construction than other cavalry stirrups I have seen it is probably earlier, late 18th or very early 19th century. The stirrup is of hussar or cradle pattern. The steel has a fantastic old patina. There are no marks or stamps visible. One arm of the arch has two slots in it, passing in different directions the straps of a lance bucket would have passed through these. Dimensions :
